Tristan works as Programme Officer on Climate Change and Ecosystems at SwedBio
Tristan has been at the intersection of biodiversity, ecosystem services and human well-being for over a decade, with a particular focus on policy-relevant target setting and indicator development. This has included working with and/or for national governments and UN agencies, and NGOs at the sub-national level, and has engaged with a number of major international conservation and poverty alleviation processes including Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Most recently, Tristan has supported a number of countries with the development or revision of their National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), managed a high-level panel process on the costs and economic benefits of achieving the Aichi Biodiversity Targets, and advised on improving the integration of national biodiversity policy, planning and monitoring with the SDGs.
Tristan’s work at the Centre focuses primarily on biodiversity, ecosystem services and resilience their role in poverty reduction. In particular he is examining ecosystem-based solutions for climate change and sustainable development. This includes tracking and contributing to international policy related processed such as UNFCCC, CBD, IPBES, SDGs and others. His role also includes facilitating our work with key partners and furthering capacity development, such as through the use of multi-actor dialogue workshops.
