IMPACT is a pastoralist’s development organization that was established in 2002 and focuses primarily on voice and movement building around peace building, human rights, governance, land and natural resource rights and policy advocacy in Kenya and East Africa. To be able to do this, IMPACT operates in tandem with community needs and aspirations, building trust and shared purpose that is critical when working with indigenous communities.
Our engagement with Indigenous communities is rooted in transparency, humility, flexibility mutual respect and collaboration. We envision an inclusive society where diversity and the rights of Indigenous Peoples are recognised, respected and protected. We seek to address the underlying causes of social exclusion, discrimination, marginalisation and poverty, which undermine Indigenous Peoples’ access to livelihood, a healthy environment and socio-cultural rights. To scale up our work we recently set PARAN alliance (https://paranalliance.org ) that coordinates learning, linking and leveraging of efforts among several organizations in East Africa.
