At the heart of this year’s Biodiversity Day celebration are the linkages between the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). They are universal agendas that must be pursued in the spirit of collaboration as they support one another. The KMGBF provides a shared roadmap to protect nature and secure the planet’s life-support systems. It aligns closely with the 2030 Agenda, reminding us that biodiversity, climate, equity, and well-being are deeply interconnected.
SwedBio’s Commitment to People and Planet
At SwedBio, we collaborate with partners working form local to global, who are on the front lines of implementing the KMGBF. Many of them are representatives of Indigenous Peoples, local communities, women, and youth and play a crucial role in placing human rights, gender equality, and intergenerational justice at the center of biodiversity policy and action. Their work embodies the spirit of this year’s theme.
On this day, we honor environmental and human rights defenders around the world who are leading efforts for life in harmony with nature.
